MAGAZINE PLASTIC WRAPPING SERVICE

Our magazine plastic wrapping service is a great alternative to paper envelopes for mailing magazines, catalogues, publications and direct mail

HOW OUR MAGAZINE PLASTIC WRAPPING SERVICE CAN HELP YOUR NEXT CAMPAIGN

Our magazine plastic wrapping service is a great alternative to paper envelopes when mailing out publications, catalogues, annual reports, magazines and direct mail pieces.

It will provide a better waterproofing protection solution for your mail article than standard envelopes.

Plastic wrapping your magazines will decrease labour time as you won’t have to worry about staff spending time hand inserting envelopes. Plastic wrapping your magazines will also allow your mail piece to be visible when in the recipient’s hand. With the piece being visible you can utilise advertising on the back of the piece or on the front of the flysheet for promotional purposes.

Most magazine subscriptions use a plastic wrap as their preferred distribution method. This is due to cost efficiency and the visibility advantage.

For addressing, you generally include what is known as a flysheet. The flysheet has the addressing details, return to sender details, postage paid indicia and can you also include some advertising.

You can also include additional inserts so you can promote additional products, services, events, for either your business or your clients or your advertising partners.

Australia Post has a specific service for publications called Print Post. This service gives you discounted rates on postage, but there is a process in applying for Print Post, and also organising your flysheet for this service.

We have helped many of our clients get set up and use this service, and can help you too.

THE 1 QUESTION YOU NEED TO ASK BEFORE YOU HIRE A MAIL HOUSE TO DO MAGAZINE PLASTIC WRAPPING MAIL OUT CAMPAIGN

Before you hire a mail house ask them this one question to see if they have your best interests in mind.

Who’s Australia Post Account should you lodge your mail out on?

If it is a large scale mail out in the 1000’s and you do at least two mail outs per year,  you should have your own Australia Post account. Most mail houses put a small mark up on postage, nothing wrong with that as long as they are up front about it.

But we have seen times where clients have been urged and advised to lodge on the mail house’s Australia Post account so the mail house can put a mark up on postage.

If you are doing a smaller sized mail out of under 500 items, a 10% mark up will only account to a saving of around $50.00. But if you are mailing out thousands of direct mail pieces the savings can be in the thousands of dollars.

We recently saved one of our clients $3,000.00 on postage on one mail out by advising them to use their own account. In the past their previous mail house had been lodging on the mail houses account with a mark up of over 15%.

6 TIPS WHEN USING PLASTIC WRAP FOR YOUR MAGAZINE DISTRIBUTION

l

FLYSHEET GUIDE LINES

When you do a magazine plastic wrap job you have to use a flysheet for addressing. You will want to make sure your flysheet adheres to the guidelines set out by Australia Post. The rules on flysheets do change from time to time, so make sure yours are correct before you go to print.

j

ADVERTISE ON THE FLYSHEET

Utilise every spot you can for advertising. Whether on the front of the flysheet or the back. Use this spot for the best selling product or service you have. You can also insert additional flyers so you can promote additional products or services either for your business or advertisers.

VARIABLE DATA

As of January 2017 Australia Post now allows you to utilise variable data within the Print Post service. You could test headlines for offers, use personalisation, or any number of things. Just make sure you get Aust Post to authorise it before you go to print. We can help with this process.

}

ALLOW ENOUGH TIME

When you get a quote from your mail house ask how long it will take them to process the mail out. If you are getting catalogues, brochures, annual reports printed allow some extra enough time to get the artwork proofing done. Things like artwork proofs can hold up a job, and blow out job schedules.

v

REGULAR OR PRIORITY MAIL

Australia Post have two different categories for lodging mail. Regular mail will take a couple of days to get there. Priority mail gets there quicker. If it isn’t urgent we recommend regular, it can save you 18 cents per item. That adds up quick. If you publish your publication twice a year you can also look into Print Post service.

BEST OFFER

If you are going to advertise on the flysheet or on the back of the magazine make it the best possible offer you can. Don’t die wondering. At least this way if it doesn’t work you know you have given it the best chance you could.
